Objectives

To design the tool that provides hardware and software inventory of PDAs running under Palm OS.

Results

This tool had to be included into the tool kit built into the integrated network management system. In terms of this project it was necessary to implement the program that would allow to get the list of applications installed on a Palm OS PDA, as well as the most detailed hardware information about the device. This tool should save the inventory results on the host (desktop) machine.

Technical peculiarities

One of the remarkable peculiarities of the project is that the inventory code executes on the Desktop PC (the PC which the Palm PDA is connected to) during the synchronization process between

that Desktop PC and Palm device. Palm Inventory Tool was implemented as a special DLL, i.e. so called "Conduit" which functions are called by the Palm HotSync Tool during synchronization process.
